Ever thought of a society where over 90 percent of the Nigerian Population will have access to financial inclusion because we have. This is why the E-Payment Providers Association of Nigeria (E-PPAN) has finalized plans to kick-off the last phase of the cashless mobilization in Cross River, Koyi and Ekiti States. Cashless will hold in Cross River from 18th-22nd of September, Kogi State from 25th-29th of September while the last state in this third phase will be on the 2nd-6th of October, 2017.
We embark on cash-less mobilization so as to sensitization the grassroots on the need to adopt electronic channels in their daily lives because we recognize the importance of financial inclusion. In the last two stages, the result of the mobilization was tremendous as our outings show that people are now eager to get included in the formal financial sector.
The fact that they are not formally banked does not mean they don’t have money. Infact, we were amazed at the amount of cash circulating within the local markets and communities which is outside of the formal purview of the organized financial industry.
While a few demanded for brick and mortal banking, a whole lot wanted to get signed on to the mobile banking platforms available. We introduced the POS machine, ATMSs, USSD codes, m-wallets, the e-purse, and a host of other products that they could ride on under the cashless campaign. We recoginse the need for financial inclusion and are therefore glad to have the CBN continue to support our efforts in this regards.
This is why there is a dire need for both banks and non-banks, retailers and,MMOs, Switches and other key stakeholders to come together in the build-up of a successful payment ecosystems. We call on you, our member, to use the marketing opportunity to increase your portfolio as you support our efforts by sending your representatives in the different states to join us as we work together to expand the adoption of e-payment in a Nigeria that will benefit us all.
